I asked further and got more info. It is his first offence. He plead guilty and got a reduced sentence with the installation of the interlock. Thanks for clarifying.

Sorry Sean is it law that an interlock is installed after first conviction now. Read that it was after 3rd within 10 yrs.

Sean, a quick question. If a person is required to have an interlock placed in their car can the drive a snowmobile or operate a boat with out one? Thanks Tin
