Anybody know why they stopped grooming around Walkerton? Haven't groomed since last week.
Give you three guesses. First two don't count.

I was in Walkerton on Saturday, it was great?
It's likely too warm.
When the snow gets warm and slushy/granular grooming usually results in balling up the snow. Makes a big mess, maybe you've seen it..big snow or ice balls on the side of the trail?
I don't think we've been able to groom since it warmed up mid week.
If it gets cold enogh we will continue to groom.
Walkerton is likely in the same boat.

Oh I understand grooming completely. But it's been below freezing every night and clubs around are still at it.I was in Walkerton on Saturday, it was great?

The type of drag being used may have a bit to do with it as well.
Some drags stop rolling the snow at around -3 or even a bit colder while others can roll the snow at +1 or +2 degrees still.
Seems like the Mogal Master works the best for us up here in Sudbury when it comes to the warm weather.

I was through Arthur yesterday and I came across 2 places where the groomer had to dump the snow from the drag. I don't know anything about grooming but I would assume this was done because of the weight.
Mount Forest had groomed in the early morning hours but since it didn't see much cold, it was destroyed by the first few sleds that rode through. Where the groomer had to cut a tight corner there were 1 foot round slush balls sitting at the edge of the trail.
I wouldn't criticize any clubs action this week. Warm temps, available operators, grooming window, available funds. Balance all that against what results can be achieved.

Most likely reason for having to dump the snow is due to the warm temps it will not roll and therefore stays in the drag and overloads it. (kind of acts more like a snow plow than a groomer as it won't release the snow)I was through Arthur yesterday and I came across 2 places where the groomer had to dump the snow from the drag.
